As a Texas native, Marisilda Garcia dreamed of making her way to Los Angeles to pursue her acting and singing career. As both a Mexican American and a female, she anticipated the journey ahead of her and fought to get where she is today.
She remembers her 2nd grade teacher telling her during a class assignment where students were asked what they wanted to be that Mexicans couldn’t be actors and singers. Fueled by her mother’s words and encouragement, she kept the passion alive until moving to Los Angeles in 2007, where she could bring those dreams to fruition.
Zak Forsman describes Marisilda as a “fearless artist with boundless enthusiasm for doing good work.” Her consistent work on independent films, national commercials like Ameriprise and Comcast (alongside Amy Poehler) and most recently in Roswell, Walker, Gentefied, Briarpatch and Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead (alongside Ana de la Reguera and Dave Bautista), solidify her as an actor with range, vulnerability and a profound understanding of her craft and instrument. Her talent as a singer/songwriter was evident when she rose to the semi-finals of Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento and as she performed on the Sunset Strip at clubs like the Viper Room and The Roxy. Not one to be outdone, she continually studies her craft at schools like Berg Studios, Margie Haber Studios, Christinna Chauncey and most recently at Centro Del Actor in Madrid where she was able to flex her fluent Spanish speaking abilities while studying under Lorena Garcia de las Bayonas. As a first generation Mexican American, Marisilda is committed to changing the way women are seen in Hollywood while becoming a leader in the industry for others like her.
"Marisilda was a director joy to work with. Never a false note. Whether handling drama or comedy, she is completely believable and riveting to watch. I am amazed by her talent." --Anne Norda writer/director
